Choosing an infrared panel? Start with the power and position your room needs, then compare size, finish and controls. Warmteshop offers metal panels, glass, mirrors and models with lighting for targeted supplementary heating or a properly sized primary heating system.

Which infrared panel suits your room?
- Keep walls free: explore panels for ceiling mounting. Check that the chosen model permits this installation.
- Direct heat from the wall: choose a wall panel with a clear view of the seating or working area.
- Combine heat and light: compare LED infrared panels, including light output and controls.
- Flexible supplementary heating: explore portable infrared heating and check which feet or brackets are required.
Then choose the finish: metal, glass, an infrared mirror or a panel with your own photo. A separate mirror demisting film serves a different purpose from a complete heating panel.
Compare four panels from our range
These four metal models show why power alone is not enough to choose a panel. The Welltherm is long and narrow, for example; the Ecaros and Alkari are wider. Open each model for its current price and full product details.
| Model | Power | Dimensions | Mounting | Choosing a model |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ecaros metal 600 W | 600 W | 592 × 892 × 17 mm | Wall or ceiling | Wider metal panel; external room control. |
| Welltherm PB0610 | 610 W | 392 × 1492 × 17 mm | Wall or ceiling | Long, narrow metal panel; external room control. |
| Alkari ALK-NG-600 | 600 W | 592 × 892 × 17 mm | Wall or ceiling | Wider panel without a built-in thermostat; choose external controls. |
| Termofol metal WiFi 500 W | 500 W | 600 × 850 × 15 mm | Wall | WiFi version for app control; check which controls are supplied. |
Dimensions and mounting are taken from the product specifications. Check the brackets, thermostat and receiver required for each model. The power ratings differ; this table does not rank energy consumption or potential savings.
How much power do you need?
For an initial estimate, Warmteshop uses 25 W per m³ with favourable insulation. With extensive glazing or poorer insulation, our indicative starting point is 30 W per m³. For primary heating, the power must cover the room’s heat loss.
Example: a room measuring 4 × 4 metres with a 2.5-metre ceiling has a volume of 40 m³. The estimate is 1000 W at 25 W/m³, or 1200 W at 30 W/m³. Two 500 W panels provide 1000 W together. Final selection also depends on position, windows and the required temperature.
Distribute panels across the occupied zones and leave the radiant path clear. A tall cupboard or thick curtain in front of a panel reduces its reach. Our heating advice helps you consider power and distribution room by room.
Thermostats and room controls
Use a suitable thermostat and a separate schedule for each room. The Ecaros, Welltherm PB0610 and Alkari models in this comparison use external room controls. A wireless system with separate receivers generally needs a suitable receiver for each panel. Check switching capacity and which components come with your chosen version.
Explore thermostats for infrared panels or panels with a thermostat. A WiFi label does not automatically mean every thermostat or receiver you might want is included.
How much electricity does a panel use?
Power in kW × active heating hours = consumption in kWh. A 600 W panel uses 0.6 kWh during one hour of continuous heating. At an example tariff of €0.30/kWh, that costs €0.18. The thermostat switches the panel on and off; insulation, temperature and use determine the actual heating time.
A higher power rating does not predict your annual consumption. Read more about calculating hourly and monthly heating costs.
Infrared heating by room
Compare solutions for the living room, bedroom, bathroom or targeted warmth at your desk. In a bathroom, the model, IP rating and mounting position must be compatible. Have installation and connection checked if you are unsure.
Frequently asked questions about infrared panels
Can panels provide primary heating?
Yes, if total power and distribution match the home’s heat loss. Targeted supplementary heating may be enough for an occasionally occupied spot. Have primary heating sized room by room.
Is ceiling mounting better than wall mounting?
Ceiling mounting keeps walls free and can reach several occupied zones. Wall mounting works well for a specific seating or working area. The best position depends on the room and the mounting methods the manufacturer permits.
How does an infrared panel work?
The heated surface emits radiant heat to people and surfaces within range. The room’s air gradually warms too. A panel needs a clear view of the comfort zone and must not be covered.
How do I maintain a panel?
Switch it off and let it cool before cleaning the surface. Keep it free of dust and check the fixings and cable as described in the manual.
